Pioneers in Stair Transport
For over 45 years we have been designing and manufacturing stair climbing trolleys that have revolutionised the way thousands of professionals work around the world.
Almost 50 Years of Innovation
From 1977 to today, a journey of passion, ingenuity and Italian technology.
Domino PT is born — the electric stair climbing pallet truck
Designed to move pallets weighing up to 450 kg (990 lbs) on any surface. Grass, gravel, packed earth, uneven paving: nothing stops it. It overcomes ramps, kerbs and steps with ease, thanks to independent non-slip tracks. The lifting height of up to 65 cm (25.5 in) and rearward tilting allow you to handle the load like a forklift. Automatic balancing keeps the pallet stable on stairs, eliminating physical strain on the operator. Ideal for last-mile deliveries.
New 2026Skipper GL is born — the glass manipulator that climbs stairs
In 2025 Zonzini introduces the Skipper Lift GL, the most compact and powerful tracked machine ever built for transporting glass panels on stairs. Equipped with professional suction cups, a motorised tilting arm and electric lift, it can move glass panels weighing up to 300 kg (660 lbs) over steps and ramps of up to 45 degrees. The 360-degree rotation allows millimetre-precise positioning of the glass. Zonzini tracks leave no marks on delicate surfaces. A single operator can install large glass panels in complete safety.
New 2025Domino gets a new look and load lifting function
Domino Lift and Domino Lift Stabilized were created to tackle the challenge of lifting loads up to 60 cm (24 in). This is considered a major transformation for Domino, which alongside its new look — featuring a sturdier frame and a more ergonomic handle — offers not only load lifting, but also greater operator assistance thanks to the new rear sensors fitted in the stabilised version.
Zonzini trolleys can now connect to the network thanks to Zonzini Connectivity
Zonzini's new connectivity revolutionises the stair climbing trolley industry, offering unprecedented control over the trolleys through direct owner access to usage reports. Device registration ensures a continuous link between the customer and the manufacturer, allowing any issues to be resolved quickly. Thanks to remote software updates and connectivity available even over a 2G network — present in almost every country — it is possible to monitor and manage your fleet in real time, anywhere.
IoT ReadyDomino Stabilized, Skipper with automatic mode and Buddy/Buddy Lift with Plasmoid technology are born
Zonzini is a company with a strong innovative drive, demonstrated by the complete renewal of the entire product range. All models are equipped with the brand-new Plasmoid electronics, created by Zonzini, and additional features have been introduced that were not previously available — all aimed at improving safety, user experience and product performance.
Zonzini's Plasmoid electronics are born
2021 marks the year of a major change. Zonzini developed custom electronics specifically designed to enhance the performance of its products. These electronics feature highly advanced functionality and are capable of delivering power levels that were previously unattainable.
The new Skipper is born
In 2020, the well-known Skipper model underwent a major transformation that completely repositioned it in the premium market segment. The technology used is the same as the Domino Automatic model, with powerful traction motors and high-performance electronics. Skipper complements the range alongside the Domino Automatic and covers the segment for transporting tall loads — from 2 metres (6.5 ft) upwards — such as window frames, electrical panels and fire extinguisher cylinders.
Domino People is born
The natural evolution of a tracked stair climber as easy to use and as safe as the Domino Automatic was its adaptation for transporting electric and manual wheelchairs. This adaptation has enabled many people who normally use heavy electric wheelchairs to be transported on various types of stairs without having a lift or hoist available.
Domino Automatic is born
Zonzini's research department is constantly under pressure to improve not only the reliability of the entire product range, but above all the user experience. In 2015, Domino received a major upgrade and became the Domino Automatic. The new Zonzini red livery made it unmistakable and instantly recognisable. The Automatic function adjusts the load platform independently, meaning that for the first time in history, an operator could guide a load of up to 400 kg (880 lbs) on stairs simply by moving a joystick. Domino Automatic would prove to be probably one of the best electric stair climbers ever built.
The Domino tracked stair climber is born
2014 is a very important year in Zonzini's history. It is the year the first Domino electric stair climbing trolley was born. In 1999, as we mentioned, a very similar electric tracked stair climber had already been introduced — the precursor of what would become the Domino model — however, it did not gain market favour at the time, and the reason could not be understood, since from a functional standpoint no significant objections had emerged from users. The decision to produce a product that was certainly more advanced and technologically superior to the 1999 trolley was taken directly by the company's ownership, who could not understand how such an effective product could have played only a marginal role until then. The market response to the launch of the brand-new Domino was impressive, and a new era in the stair climbing trolley world began. Its unique ease of use, product reliability and performance — made possible above all by the further improved Zonzini tracks — made it the new benchmark in the tracked stair climber sector for heavy transport. It is true that every product has its era, and sometimes being too far ahead of the times leads to hasty and sometimes wrong conclusions.
Game changerZonzini's wheeled stair climbers are born
In those years, Zonzini was rapidly gaining market share in the tracked stair climber sector for heavy transport, so it was necessary to diversify in order to capture market share in segments where the Zonzini brand was less well known. The Buddy and Buddy Lift electric wheeled stair climbers were therefore introduced, suitable for transporting lighter and less demanding loads, such as household appliances. The Buddy Lift in particular was greatly appreciated by users thanks to its integrated electric load lift, which improved the centre of gravity during stair transport. This type of technology is less advanced than tracks and still relies heavily on the operator's ability to manage the balance of the load on each step, which is why they are only suitable for transporting lighter and less bulky loads compared to tracked trolleys.
The new Skipper electric tracked stair climbing trolley is born
In 2003, one of the safest and most reliable stair climbing trolleys ever built was born — the Skipper model with anti-tip base. It was a unique stair climber and remained so for many years. It became a true classic. For years, the Skipper tracked stair climbing trolley was considered the safest ever built because it used what would become known as the Zonzini tracks, of unmatched quality and reliability. A great many companies have used it — and still do — to transport vending machines, boilers, marble blocks and all kinds of heavy materials.
Best sellerA new era for Zonzini in stair transport
In 1999, many innovative ideas were put into practice — perhaps too many. 1999 was the year the first electric tracked stair climbing trolley with a tilting load platform was born. It is worth noting that this trolley worked really well. It effectively eliminated all physical strain on stairs and allowed the operator to work with their back in an upright and comfortable position throughout the entire transport phase. Unfortunately, it was not appreciated at the time; indeed, only a few hundred units were produced. It was later discovered that this trolley's approach to climbing stairs was too different from what many customers expected at the time — essentially, they saw it as too unlike what the market offered, and it was overlooked. And to think that it was precisely this stair climbing trolley that, many years later in 2014, inspired the Domino model, currently sold successfully worldwide and receiving enthusiastic feedback from every corner of the globe. Sometimes, being too innovative does not pay off immediately.
Zonzini Claudio Carrelli Speciali is established
In 1997, Claudio Zonzini decided to continue his path by focusing on the design and manufacture of stair climbing trolleys. The growing demand and the difficulties faced by installers and removal workers shifted the focus to a subject that would become central to Zonzini's business from then on: stair transport. Thus was born the first manual TRACKED stair climbing trolley, the ZP250 model.
Introduction of the Volpino manual lifting trolley
In 1993, Meccanica Zonzini created a manual trolley for lifting boilers and radiators in order to address the difficulties reported by plumbers and installers, who complained about the challenge of installing wall-mounted boilers that needed to be lifted into position.
The new Falco 2000 in aluminium alloy
In 1990, Zonzini introduced the new Falco 2000 electric hoist in aluminium alloy which, unlike its predecessor, was significantly lighter, making it easier for the operator to transport it to the floor. In addition, this model featured a longer boom arm compared to the previous version, thus increasing the volume of goods that could be transported without interfering with the balconies below.
The birth of the first "Artiglio" electric stair climbing trolley
1988 is a historic date, important for Zonzini's history and for everything that followed. It was the year the first electric stair climbing trolley for transporting furniture, appliances and kitchen worktops was born. It was the "Artiglio" (Claw) model, named after its then-innovative technology for climbing and descending stairs. It consisted of a series of grips (or claws, given the shape they were given) that literally hooked onto the step above and dragged the entire device — and naturally the load — along with it. It was the first form of electric stair climbing trolley ever seen, and it subsequently inspired numerous other companies, who drew on it to offer alternative products.
World firstThe birth of the first "Falco 2000" electric hoist
In 1980, alongside the production of conventional wheeled trolleys for transporting furniture and furnishings within factories, the problem of delivering to the customer's floor began to arise. The first electric hoist called "Falco 2000" was therefore born. It was mounted on the balcony of the home and, by means of an electric motor, a boom arm and steel cables, it could lift furniture directly to the floor, thus avoiding the problem of having to tackle the stairs.
Meccanica Zonzini is founded
In 1977, Zonzini Orfeo, Zonzini Angelo Giorgio, Zonzini Alfonso Amedeo and Zonzini Claudio founded Meccanica Zonzini in the province of Verona, an area with a long tradition in fine furniture craftsmanship. The purpose of the company was to build trolleys and devices for transporting furniture and furnishings to the floor. In 1977, they built the first flat-floor furniture transport trolleys, mainly pallet trucks (including electric ones) and wheeled trolleys, as well as specialist trolleys designed to help the production lines of the time work differently — sometimes minimising the physical element to increase productivity.
